Welcome to the Seward Park Eruv
Seattle's Jewish community
in Seward Park completed building its eruv in the fall of 1990.
One of the world's most respected poskim on eruvin, Rabbi Shimon
Eider of Lakewood, New Jersey, designed and reviewed the eruv
and has enthusiastically hailed it as impeccably correct. The
eruv satisfies, maximally, all of the three basic requirements
for an eruv:
- The formal leasing has been
transacted with the Mayor of the City of Seattle.
- An Eruv Chatzerot was instituted
and is kept at Bikur Cholim-Machzikay Hadath Congregation.
- The "Door Images,"
Tzurot Hapesach, have been constructed to meet every stringency
while keeping the eruv viable.
To
use the eruv, it is your responsibility to determine, every
Friday, the operational status of the eruv. Call (206) 725-ERUV
for a status report. Those using the eruv should also know
that the eruv's borders in many cases enclose only one side
of the street.
For more specific information on the eruv, contact Marshall
Hartholz, 725-1273.
